The woman approached the priest for pastoral support after her marriage broke down but instead was propositioned. The shameless priest even tried to chat her up during confession, as she told of losing a relative. Instead of giving an ear to listen to, Father Nugent tried to grab her and kiss her neck, saying: "I have a great passion for you." The woman, who asked not to be named, said he revealed his sleazy side in the early 1990s while he was priest at Our Lady Of The Assumption in Ruchill, Glasgow. She said: "I'd known Gerry Nugent from way back and, strangely, he always had a bit of a reputation as a ladies' man, which was odd for a priest. "I was going through a difficult time and really needed someone to speak to. "Father Nugent took confession in the main pews and he said I should come back the next day. "When I got to the chapel house, I thought there was something fishy going on. "At one point, he put his arms around me to hug me and then I felt him kissing my neck. "I was shocked. I don't normally swear but I told him to f*** off. I stormed out and didn't go back to Mass when he was serving." The woman, now in her 50s, said she was sure Nugent had several affairs. She said: "He didn't give a damn about his vows. They were just a joke. "Once he'd done it once, I guess he didn't care about doing it again and again." The parishioner said one of her friends had an affair with Father Nugent. She said: "Her husband had left her and she was in a state. "The next thing, Father Nugent is showering her with compliments and having her round for dinner. "They would knock around and I bumped into them in the supermarket once. She was wearing a mini skirt and he had lost weight. "It was like love's young dream - it wasn't right."
