Police on Thursday arrested a former private school teacher accused of fondling and having sex with a student at El Sendero Christian Academy.

Matthew Aaron Hernandez, 26, is charged with sexual assault of child. The former private school teacher is out of jail on a $20,000 bond.

According to an arrest warrant, the mother of a 15-year-old student addressed her concerns about Hernandez giving her son expensive gifts with the school's superintendent, Robert R. Lara, on Jan. 23.

The warrant says the mother wanted all contact between the accused teacher and her son to cease.

Lara advised Hernandez and the alleged victim to stop all communications.

Two months later, the mother was back in Lara's office with sex abuse allegations against the teacher.

The warrant states Hernandez was asked to voluntarily resign by Lara until the matter was resolved. According to police, Hernandez did resign citing personal reasons.

The teen's mother also confided with a pastor at the Soul Harvest Church and the pastor advised the mother to call police, according to the warrant.

Police were notified March 19, and soon learned that the alleged victim lived with Hernandez for a month and a half in 2006.

The two shared the same bed and the victim claims Hernandez fondled him on more than one occasion.

The teen also alleges that his teacher took him to a Super 8 Motel in the 5300 block of Wurzbach Road in December 2006 to have sex.

Officers were able to verify the teacher's occupancy at the motel from a registration receipt.

Police say Hernandez admits providing the teen with expensive gifts, sharing the same bed with the boy, and to the motel visit. However, the accused teacher denies any sexual contact.
