Source: Priest Accused of Abuse May Plea Bargain CBS 2 March 21, 2007 http://cbs2chicago.com/topstories/local_story_079213705.html Chicago — A Chicago priest accused of sexually abusing several West Side youngsters is apparently ready to at least talk about a guilty plea. Father Daniel McCormack is due in court for a status hearing Wednesday. At that hearing, a source tells CBS 2, his attorney and prosecutors are expected to ask a judge to allow them to begin those talks.
Plea bargaining raises the possibility of a guilty plea, but it doesn't guarantee it. Cardinal George has said he would prefer an outcome that would spare the priest's alleged victims from having to testify in court. |
