Jefferson City — It has been five years since the resignation of a controversial bishop who had ties to the Jefferson City Catholic Diocese. On Thursday, a small group marched outside the headquarters in Jefferson City to protest the scandal and cover-up of abusive priests within the Catholic Church.

In January of 2002, Bishop Anthony O'Connel, resigned after being publicly accused of sexual abuse. His resignation was part of a national scandal involving dozens of priests throughout the country. Before he resigned, he had been assigned to Hannibal, Missouri and in Tennessee.

Members of the group SNAP, or Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, say little is being done to stop catholic bishops who have been accused of child molestation in recent years. "Cover up may be a harsh word, but the hardball legal tactics they are doing against people who have been victimized is very harsh," says Bob Swart.

SNAP members held rallies in two other cities as well.
