	Retired Bishop Asks Judge to Dismiss Sexual Abuse Lawsuits WOI January 2, 2007 http://www.woi-tv.com/Global/story.asp?S=5879467&nav=1LFX Iowa City, Iowa The former principal of an Iowa City Roman Catholic school has asked a Scott County judge to dismiss a lawsuit that claims he sexually abused 13 former students more than 40 years ago. Lawrence Soens is a retired Sioux City bishop who was at Regina High School in the 1960s.He filed a motion last week for a summary judgment, which is a request made before a trial and asks a judge to rule in the defendant's favor.The men have also sued the school, which filed a similar motion last month.The lawsuits also name the Diocese of Davenport. Those cases were put on hold when the diocese filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last fall.
