Ljubljana District Court has sentenced the Catholic priest Franc Frantar to three-and-a-half years in prison for sexual abuse of minor.
Frantar (59) is the first priest sentenced to jail on pedophile charges in Slovenia, the local media reported.
The verdict will enter in effect after completion of appeal period. Both the prosecutor and defense lawyer said they would appeal court's ruling.

The victim, who turned 25 this year, reported the case in 2000. The priest escaped abroad to evade trial. He was apprehended upon an international arrest warrant.
If the appellate court upholds the verdict, the priest will be also tried by a church court.
Another trial of a priest from Krsko, also charged with sexual abuse of minors, is underway in Slovenia.
