December 8th is a special day for San Juan Bautista. On this date in 1985, Father Edward Fitz-Henry, our Pastor, was ordained to the priesthood in Ireland by His Excellency, Bishop Thaddeus Shubsda of happy memory. Fr. Fitz-Henry has been a Priest of the Diocese of monterey for 25 years this coming Wednesday, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, and more than half of that in San Juan Bautista in two different assignments. If you happen to see him this week, wish Father a Happy Anniversary on his Priestly Ordination.
Oblatis, quaesumus, Domine, placare muneribus: et famulum tuum Edwardum, quem pastorem communitas Sancti Ioannis Baptistae tuae praesse voluisti, assidua protectione guberna. Per Dominum nostrum Iesum Christum Filium tuum, qui tecum vivit et regnam in unitate Spiritus Sancti, Deus, per omnia saecula saeculorum. Amen.
Favourably accept, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the gifts we offer, and by Thy continual protection govern Thy servant Edward whom Thou hast been pleased to appoint as Pastor of the community of San Juan Bautista. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. Amen.
Acepta, te pedimos Señor, las ofrendas que te ofrecemos, y por tu protección continual, governa tu servio Eduardo que ha sido agradable a ti a apuntar Pastor de la comunidad de San Juan Bautista. Por Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que viva y reina contigo en la unidad del Espíritu Santo, Dios, por los siglos de los siglos. Amén.
