After claims from many, LA priest abuse case rests on one man

LOS ANGELES (CA)
KESQ

LOS ANGELES Lawyers will present their final arguments today in the Los Angeles molestation trial of ex-priest Michael Wempe.

Prosecutors are likely to continue portraying the 66-year-old as a pedophile who habitually preyed on young boys.

Wempe's defenders are expected to claim the former priest was cured of his pedophilia during a church-ordered treatment in 1987 and never molested again.

Defense lawyers spent the final day of testimony yesterday casting doubt on claims made by the man Wempe is being tried for allegedly molesting. The lawyers suggested he made up his story of abuse to avenge his two brothers who were abused by Wempe years earlier.
