A retired Catholic teacher today appeared in court charged with sexual abuse at a Manawatu school in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
John Stevenson, 68, who lives in Wellington, is charged with six counts of indecent assault and one of inducing a boy to perform a sexual act.
According to the charges, the assaults were against three pupils aged between 14 and 16, while the accused, also known as Brother Bernard, was a teacher at Hato Paora Maori Boys College in Fielding.
