Judge delays hearing on sex-abuse settlement

KENTUCKY
The Courier-Journal

A judge has postponed a Boone Circuit Court hearing on a proposed settlement of a class-action lawsuit involving victims of sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Covington. The hearing, originally scheduled for yesterday, has been reset for July 7.

The diocese and plaintiffs announced a $120 million settlement earlier this month. But Senior Judge John Potter, who is overseeing the case, took issue with the references to a $120 million settlement, saying the church did not have that amount on hand and he wanted the notices to specify that.
