A former Anglican priest was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in jail for abusing teenage boys over a 20-year period.

Louis Victor Daniels pleaded guilty to 13 charges of sex-related offences with 10 boys aged between 11 and 17.

The crimes took place in Tasmania from January 1974 until December 1993.

Justice Pierre Slicer said the crimes leading to Daniels' jail sentence included maintaining a sexual relationship and acts of indecent assault.

Speaking in Hobart's Criminal Court, Justice Slicer said Daniels, 57, showed a pattern of predation and persisted to abuse boys, despite their resistance.

"He was well aware that his conduct was abhorrent to both the social values and tenets of his religion," Justice Slicer said.
