DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Des Moines Catholic Diocese wants a Des Moines man and his attorney to keep quiet about the lawsuit against a former Dowling High School teacher.

An attorney for the Des Moines diocese said too much disclosure about the case could make a fair trial impossible.

John Chambers filed a lawsuit against the Rev. Leonard Kenkel, accusing him of sexual abuse when he was a student in Kenkel's class in the 1967-1968 school year.

Chambers believes there are other victims. He said he wants punitive damages for the counseling he's received.

Chambers and his lawyer, Mary McGee, have both talked to the media about the case including graphic details about the alleged abuse.
