The Catholic Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis says it won't release the names of sex offenders identified in an independent audit last year.
The audit found 18 new cases of sexual abuse of children. Dennis McGrath is communications director for the archdiocese. He said the cases involve offenders previously identified.
"You know a fair number of these folks are dead. And I don't know what good would be served to their family and survivors if they've already been exposed and humilated. Now that they're dead let the dead lay," he said.
