CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa Two former Iowans have filed a federal lawsuit alleging sexual abuse by priests affiliated with the Archdiocese of Dubuque.
Both cases were filed by former Waterloo residents who now live in Los Angeles.
The first case was filed by a woman who claims she was abused several times in the early 1960's by Patrick McElliot, a priest assigned at the time to the St. John's Parish in Waterloo.
The second case was filed by a man who claims he was abused as a teenager in 1979 by William Schwartz, who was the spiritual director at Columbus High School in Waterloo.
Both lawsuits name the archdiocese as a defendant.
