A Hindu priest was jailed for 12 years today for "abusing his position of trust" by twice raping a vulnerable woman.
Ramanathan Somanathan, 41, who worked at a temple in Croydon, south London, took advantage of his 29-year-old victim and raped her on two occasions at her home.
The second time she was raped the woman became pregnant and later had an abortion.
This led to her making several attempts to take her own life and becoming isolated in her community.
The assaults had a devastating effect on her and effectively left her a ruined woman, Croydon Crown Court heard.
