The latest review of sex-abuse prevention programs in the Roman Catholic Church finds West Virginia in pretty good shape.
According to the audit released Friday, the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston had only two deficiencies. They were in training and background checks for its thousands of volunteers.
Though nearly 3,000 background checks have been performed, the audit found the diocese could not provide the number of remaining volunteers or a training schedule for them.
Nor could the diocese say when it will do background checks on those who have not yet been screened.
