The Society of Jesus in Chile affirmed that it is taking the measures to facilitate the clarification of the alleged crime of sexual abuse that is attributed to Fr. Juan Miguel Leturia SJ, in a complaint currently under judicial process.
In a
declaration signed by the Provincial Superior of the Jesuits in the country, Fr. Guillermo Baranda SJ, the religious congregation responsibly takes the complaint, made public this Sunday in an
information of the newspaper La Tercera.
Fr. Baranda maintains that a thorough internal investigation is being carried out and that justice will be collaborated in all that is necessary to do according to the current legal system.
It also adds that sexual abuse of minors constitutes a gravely immoral act and a crime.
"We want to express to public opinion and to all who have put their trust in the Society of Jesus that we will do everything in our power to clarify this situation," the Declaration concludes.
